PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA TO DELIVER KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT “NATIONAL CLEAN ENERGY SUMMIT 8.0: POWERING PROGRESS” IN LAS VEGAS, AUG. 24

LAS VEGAS — President Barack Obama will lead the nation’s foremost clean energy conversation as the keynote speaker during the “National Clean Energy Summit 8.0: Powering Progress” at Mandalay Bay Resort Convention Center in Las Vegas Monday, Aug. 24. In its eighth year, the annual summit brings together clean energy advocates, business leaders, students, public officials and decision makers to discuss solutions for the advancement of the clean energy economy.

“I have so much affection and admiration for President Obama and we are thrilled to welcome him to participate in this year’s summit,” said U.S. Senator Harry Reid. “President Obama’s record on clean energy and climate stands above all others. His administration has made the largest investment in clean energy in American history and there is no place better than Nevada to discuss how we will continue this progress.”

Under the direction of President Obama, the United States is leading global efforts to address the threat of climate change, while making great strides domestically by increasing the use of wind, geothermal and solar power and reducing carbon emissions in record numbers. During the summit, President Obama and other clean energy visionaries will discuss topics such as securing greater energy independence, empowering Americans to develop existing clean energy resources and job creation through renewable energy initiatives.

 LAS VEGAS — “National Clean Energy Summit 8.0: Powering Progress” will feature a timely discussion about the savings and opportunities that clean energy and efficiency bring to families and businesses today during the “Energy in the American Life” panel. Returning Aug. 24 to Mandalay Bay Resort Convention Center, the Summit unites clean energy advocates, business leaders, public officials and bipartisan decision makers to develop innovative solutions to advance the clean energy economy.

Esteemed panelists for “Energy in the American Life” will include Bill Ritter, Former Governor of Colorado, Antonio Villaraigosa, Former Mayor of Los Angeles, Nancy Pfund, Founder and Managing Partner of DBL Investors and Geisha Williams, President of Electric Operations at Pacific Gas and Electric Company, with Neera Tanden, President of the Center for American Progress, serving as the moderator.

 LAS VEGAS — “National Clean Energy Summit 8.0: Powering Progress” will explore solutions to revitalize the nation’s outdated power grid during the “Energy in the Information Age” panel. Returning Aug. 24 to Mandalay Bay Resort Convention Center, the Summit welcomes a dynamic group of clean energy experts who will lead a robust dialogue about modernizing our outdated electric grid with 21st century communications technologies and energy storage.

As homes and appliances become more connected to the internet and people generate more of their own clean electricity, the country will need to invest in innovative solutions to ensure the grid infrastructure is serving the needs of Americans. Eighth Annual Summit Returns to Las Vegas Aug. 24 Featuring Discussion about Investing in Clean Energy

LAS VEGAS — “National Clean Energy Summit 8.0: Powering Progress” brings the next generation of clean energy development into focus with an in-depth look at large, trend-setting investments in clean energy. A recent example of those game-changing investments is the Nevada-based lithium ion battery plant, the “Gigafactory.” 

On Aug. 24 at Mandalay Bay Resort Convention Center, the summit will welcome leaders from Tesla Motors and Panasonic Eco Solutions to discuss why large-scale initiatives like it are needed, what these developments bring to communities and the future steps needed to capitalize on clean energy innovations. LAS VEGAS — The nation’s foremost clean energy conversation will return to Las Vegas for the eighth year with “National Clean Energy Summit 8.0: Powering Progress” at Mandalay Bay Resort Convention Center Monday, Aug. 24. Clean energy advocates, business leaders, public officials and bipartisan decision makers will assemble this year to converse about how the U.S. continues the advancement of the clean energy economy through innovation, investment and strengthened collaboration.
